Miami students receive PSE Deering Award

The recipients of the 2023 Kara Deering Pi Sigma Epsilon Award of the Greater Oxford Community Foundation are Miami students Trevor Minyo and Charlotte Thaler.

This award is given to members of the Pi Sigma Epsilon business fraternity who best demonstrate leadership.

Minyo is a junior business economics major who serves as the president of the PSE Gamma Gamma chapter. He is an honors student at the Farmer School of Business and executive director of the First Miami Student Credit Union.

Thaler is a sophomore who serves as the vice president of professional development. She is majoring in marketing and entrepreneurship.

“[I have] spent the entirety of last semester dedicating all of my spare time to improving my skills as a leader,” Thaler said, “and doing the best I can to fulfill my duties and responsibilities as vice president of PSE.”

This award was started in 1997 in memory of Deering, a Miami University student and PSE member who died in a hit-and-run accident when she was 20.
