Oxford restaurants get critical health violations

Since March 2, Butler County General Health reviewed 27 Oxford establishments and found critical violations at seven. The business cited for health violations since the last edition of the Observer are as follows:

  • Yum Yum Chinese Restaurant, 24 E. Park Place, inspected March 8, received one critical violation for pest control and four non-critical violations. Health inspectors found rodent droppings near the back storage area by the mop sink, near the dry storage at the back door, behind the flip-top cooler and in the cabinets by the rice cookers.
  • Armstrong Student Center, 550 Spring St., inspected March 23, received a total of seven critical violations and seven non-critical violations. Most were corrected at the time of inspection, and include an inaccessible handwashing sink, sanitizing solutions being stored at improper temperatures, cold storage foods not being chilled, improper storage of toxic or hazardous materials and unclean food contact surfaces and utensils.
  • Reily Pizza, 6154 Reily Millville Road, inspected March 27, received two critical violations and four non-critical violations. The two critical violations were cited due to unclean food contact surfaces and utensils, as well as the improper storage of temperature-controlled foods.
  • Armstrong Student Center: Red Zone, 550 Spring St., inspected March 23, received one critical violation for no air gap or approved backflow device on the plumbing system.
  • Gaslight Brewhouse, 325 S. College Ave., inspected March 7, has corrected its six critical violations from an earlier inspection Feb. 23.
  • MIMIAN, 114 W. Walnut St., inspected Feb. 1, received three critical violations, all of which were corrected at the time of the inspection. The restaurant received six non-critical violations. The first critical violation was that the hand washing sink was inaccessible and food contact surfaces were not easily cleanable. A box observed holding raw chicken was later found storing cooked chicken.
  • Ramen Hachi, 17 W. Church St., inspected Feb. 1, received three critical violations and two non-critical violations. The first two violations, which were corrected at the time of inspection, were for improper storage of cold food items and misuse of the hand washing sink. The final violation was for the improper storage of toxic or hazardous materials.
