Kiwanians prepare pancakes during a Pancake Day event at the Oxford United Methodist Church in the 1970s.

The Talawanda High School cafeteria is hosting the annual Oxford Kiwanis Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 22.

Kiwanis members are selling tickets in advance for $6, and $7 at the door on the day of the event. Children under 5 eat for free.

All-you-can-eat pancakes, two sausages, and a beverage comes in a meal, with additional costs for extra sausage or premium pancakes. Chocolate chip, strawberry, blueberry and gluten-free pancakes are offered for a $2 upcharge.

For the past 67 years, the Oxford Kiwanis Club has celebrated Pancake Day as a way to welcome spring.  Volunteers consist of community members, along with local businesses that help sponsor and fund the event.
