Miami experienced an all-time high in applications for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, President Gregory Crawford announced in a speech in which he unveiled the university’s new branding campaign.

The new campaign for Miami is titled “Power of Will.”

“We have a lot of advertising going on,” Crawford said at the speech Feb. 23. “We’re really truly focused in on building a national brand… and expanding our multi-cultural footprint.”

Crawford also shared details about construction around campus. He said $17 million was raised to support the construction of the Richard M. McVey Data Science Building, which will include spaces on the rooftop and attic for research. The Clinical Health Sciences & Wellness building is also nearing completion. It will house the nursing program, as well as TriHealth and the Speech & Hearing Clinic.

Crawford also showed renderings of the future renovations of Bachelor Hall and the Center for Performing Arts.

Crawford said he hopes the school can be carbon-neutral by 2040, but he said the plans are still preliminary.

He closed by thanking all members of the Miami community.

“The faculty and staff have so much of their heart and soul in this community,” he said. “We see that about every single day on this campus.”
