Ukrainian poet to present works at Shriver Center


Lyuba Yakimchuk, Ukrainian poet, screenwriter, and journalist in Russia’s War on Ukraine, will present a lecture and poetry reading from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3, Shriver Center, John Dolibois Rooms, 701 E. Spring St.

Lyuba Yakimchuk was born and raised in a coal-mining town in east Ukraine. When Russian militants occupied the region in 2014, Yakimchuk lost her home. Late last year, she published “Apricots of Donbas,” a poetry collection. Yakimchuk read a poem at this year’s Grammy Awards.
