Miami University announced a 4.6% increase in tuition fees for new students starting in August for the 2022-2023 school year following approval by the school’s Board of Trustees on Friday, June 24.

The increase has been put in place to “support a new mental health fee and keep up with rising costs and inflation,” according to an official campus announcement. It is the largest tuition increase since fall 2006, when fees rose by 6%, though the university notes that overall costs are still slightly lower than they were at that time when factoring in scholarships and financial aid.

The new rate is guaranteed to stay the same for incoming freshmen for four years due to the university’s Tuition Promise rule. This rule also ensures that current students’ fees will not be affected by the increase.
