Using fine art painting, digital printing, fashion draping, and sewing by hand and machine this collaborative dress was made by Della Reams and Larry Rushing. Reams’ work is inspired by color, the female body form and Rushing’s paintings.

Della Reams, Miami University assistant teaching professor of art, will co-host an exhibition titled “From Fine Art to Fashion” from June 10 to July 1 at the Oxford Community Arts Center.

Reams is joined by artists Larry Rushing and Hisham Dawoud, based in New York City, with whom she collaborated on a project that involved taking images of Rushing’s paintings and creating fabric patterns for dresses.

The exhibition – intended to be a cross-cultural collaboration – will have digital prints of five dresses, as well as Rushing’s original paintings.

More information about the project and Miami’s fashion programs can be found on the university’s Department of Art website.
