The new executive director for Enjoy Oxford has been narrowed to three candidates, said Enjoy Oxford board president Alan Kyger on Thursday.

The application period opened in early May and closed on May 22. There were 14 candidates and a search committee of Kyger and the Enjoy Oxford board vice-president and the treasurer narrowed that number to five and then to the final three, Kyger said.

The full Enjoy Oxford board now will interview the finalists with a goal of naming a successor to Jessica Greene by mid-June, Kyger said. Greene left the post at the end of May to become the new assistant city manager for the city of Oxford.

“In my opinion the applicant needs to be someone who is capable and comfortable in working with and coordination with, City of Oxford officials, Miami University Officials, Hoteliers, Community Members and Outside Groups who are seeking to visit our community. Communication, coordination and visionary are three important traits for this position,” said Kyger, who is also Oxford’s economic development director.

Enjoy Oxford is an independent, non-profit organization that acts as the city’s visitors’ bureau. It is funded through a local hotel/motel occupancy tax.  

The organization oversees a variety of recreational, entertainment and support activities around the city. One of its major projects in recent years has been organizing and supporting the Oxford Area Trails System, a bicycle and walking trail system that will eventually encircle the city.

Kim Daggy, operations manager of Enjoy Oxford, is filling in as director the organization until a someone is hired for the post permanently.
