Oxford police responded to domestic violence, theft, disorderly conduct and reports of DUIs March 5-March 9.
A man and woman got into an argument about a lost cigar filled with marijuana, commonly known as a blunt, March 5. The argument escalated, and the man hit the woman, threw a rock at her and strangled her before she called police. The man left the scene and was found by police at a different residence. Police transported the woman to the hospital and arrested the man for strangulation and domestic violence.
Police responded to a report of a man and woman who stole four tires from Walmart March 6. Police found the man shortly after at KDS Express without the woman. The man told police the woman left the car once she realized police were following them. Later, police found the woman down the street at Autozone. Police cited the man with theft and released him. The woman gave police a fake name and was arrested for theft and obstruction of official business.
Police responded to a report of a highly intoxicated man in The Elms’ bathroom March 8. Police found the man on the floor with vomit all over himself and the bathroom stall. EMS took him to the hospital and police cited him with underage drinking, disorderly conduct and possession of a fake ID.
Police initiated a traffic stop after police saw the driver didn’t have a license plate light March 8. The man admitted he was underage and police gave him field sobriety tests after suspecting he was drunk. After he failed, police found open containers of alcohol in his car. Police arrested the man and cited him for driving under the influence, underage drinking, open container, fake IDs and not having a license plate light.
Police stopped a driver after they saw him driving without headlights on March 9. Police smelled alcohol coming from the car and gave the man a field sobriety test. He failed and was arrested for driving under the influence and was cited for driving without headlights.
