Miami University begins discussing plans for a committee to develop and finance a new university affiliated hotel on campus. The definitive location has not yet been determined; however, Miami expressed interest in Cook Field.
According to a university press release, the new hotel would include a conference center, fitness center and a quality food service on university property.
Due to the lack of hotels in Oxford, more visitors have to stay further away. The new hotel would allow guests to stay closer during busier times like family weekend, graduation and alumni weekend. According to the Miami website, the current university hotel, The Marcum Hotel and Conference Center, has 55 rooms.
In the press release, the university ensures the planned campus projects will “benefit students and the community, and strengthen the local economy of its campuses.”
