In the Oxford city council meeting Tuesday, several ordinances were on the agenda for first reading, which will be voted on in two weeks at the Nov. 19 meeting.
First on the agenda, councilors approved a resolution to renew the city’s contract with Rumpke of Ohio, Inc. The city advertised for proposals for the collection of solid waste and recyclable materials on Sept. 20 and 27, 2024. The city received and accepted the only proposal, which was from Rumpke.
The new contract will have an 18.5% increase in rates, which is directly in line with inflation, service director Michael Dreisbach said. The new contract will also include a financial incentive for landlords and property owners to recycle.
The city’s current contract with Rumpke will expire Dec. 31, 2024. This agreement will be for a two-year period commencing Jan. 1, 2025 and can be extended by annual options through Dec. 31, 2029.
Councilors introduced two development ordinances in the first reading portion of the meeting pertaining to the South Farm neighborhood, located off Kehr Road. The first ordinance would approve the final subdivision application and plat for the South Farm neighborhood. The developer, Cristo Homes, will begin development on the land within the next year.
The second ordinance is supplemental to that, as it would vacate the rights of way that were never developed in the land, giving way to the new development.
Oxford City Council will meet again at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 in the Butler County Courthouse.
