The Hueston Woods State Park Nature Center is holding a “Fox Talk” at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, located at 6301 Park Office Road.
Ohio is home to two species of fox: gray and red. According to Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), gray foxes are usually found in wooded areas with “little human presence” and are nocturnal. This species is considered to be a good mouser, has a “distinctive bark” and can climb trees.
Red foxes, according to ODNR, are largely found in northwest and central Ohio. The habitat of a red fox can range from farmland to woods, but in the last 10 years statewide populations have decreased. Although they are also nocturnal like gray foxes, red foxes are often seen in daylight hours.
