A fossil expedition will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20 at Hueston Woods State Park Nature Center, 6301 Park Office Road, College Corner.
A naturalist will be in attendance to help participants hunt for fossils.
According to the Butler Soil and Water Conservation District website, common fossils in southwestern Ohio include trilobites, bryozoans, brachiopods, bivalves, crinoids, gastropods, cephalopods and horn coral. These fossils existed during the Ordovician period, around 505 to 440 million years ago when Ohio was a “warm, shallow sea.”
Those interested in the fossil expedition are advised to bring a vehicle as they will be instructed to drive to the fossil collection site.
