Miami University’s Outdoor Pursuit Center, 750 S. Oak St., will host a series of workshops throughout the remainder of the year on outdoor skills and safety.
The “Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course” includes two workshops and one overnight backpacking trip.
The first workshop will be 7–9 p.m. Oct. 2 , and includes an introduction and the teaching foundations of leave no trace. The second workshop is 7–9 p.m. Oct. 30 it covers trip preparations and reviews of lesson plans. The overnight backpacking trip is on Nov. 2–3.
The deadline for registration is Oct. 2, and those looking to participate must attend all three events. The eligibility fee is $200.
A two-day “Wilderness First Aid” certification course will be at 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Nov. 16 and 17. The course, which is certified by Wilderness Medical Associates International, will include information on general medical knowledge and concepts, essential life support skills and realistic training in first aid.
Nov. 1 is the registration deadline, and an eligibility fee of $275 is included.
A “Wilderness First Responder Open Recertification” will also be offered on Dec. 6–8.
