Janet Deardorff, a doctoral candidate at Miami University, will discuss beavers, deer, native and invasive plants in the Great Miami River riparian habitat at the next Audubon Miami Valley meeting, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at Lebanon Citizens National Bank in Oxford.
Her research examines the feeding habits of beaver and deer in Ohio, particularly in regard to amur honeysuckle and native woody species in riparian areas.
Deardorff is in her final year of study in the ecology, evolution and environmental biology program at Miami. She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Ohio Northern University and a master’s degree in botany from Miami.
