Sean Patrick Astin, an American actor, director and producer, will visit Miami University to lecture on destigmatizing mental health at 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, April 4 in Hall Auditorium.

Astin’s mother, the late Academy Award-winning actress Patty Duke, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when Astin was a child. She was an advocate for mental health awareness and Astin works to continue her legacy.

Astin is well known for roles including Daniel “Rudy” Ruettinger in “Rudy,” and Samwise Gamgee in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

The lecture will be in-person and also live streamed here. Tickets are free and available for the Miami community at the Miami University Box Office now.
