Former Lithuanian president to speak at Miami


Former Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė will be the guest speaker of Miami University’s Havighurst Center’s annual lecture, 6 p.m., Thursday, March 10, a day before the 32nd anniversary of the restoration of Lithuanian Independence. 

Lithuania secured its independence from the Soviet Union, March 11, 1990. Grybauskaitė served as the eighth president of Lithuania from 2009 until 2019 and was the first leader to win reelection for a second consecutive term. She was also the first woman to hold the office. 

She also served as Minister of Finance, as well as European Commissioner for Financial Programming and the Budget from 2004 to 2009.

The lecture will be held in the Farmer School of Business in Taylor Auditorium.
