Miami University has committed to carbon neutrality by 2040. This transition is projected to reduce more than 5,810 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions annually.
Initiatives to reach this goal include the Sharon and Graham Mitchell Sustainability Park – a solar panel array located near the Hillcrest residence halls on Western Campus, which is expected to produce 2,260 megawatt-hours of electricity annually – and Miami’s geothermal conversion project near Millett Hall.
Miami’s goal for carbon neutrality will also have a significant impact on Zero Carbon Oxford – a goal for Oxford to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across the city as a whole by 2040.
