Miami+celebrates+Juneteenth+with+lecture

Miami University’s Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion (OIDI) will host a lecture about the history of Juneteenth at noon Monday, June 12, in McGuffey Hall, Room 322.

Three community leaders will be on the panel to discuss the federal holiday and reflect on the past, present and future. The lecture, sponsored by the Association of Black Faculty and Staff, will allow attendees to learn about the context and thoughtfully celebrate Juneteenth.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last remaining enslaved people in the United States were informed of their liberation.
