Reily to recognize its award-winning fire department

Reily Township will recognize its volunteer fire department and emergency medical services on Reily Township Community Day, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m May 13 at the community center.

The Ohio Fire Marshall will name the department the 2023 Ohio Fire Department of the Year. Fire Chief Dennis Conrad and 30 department volunteers will head to Columbus this month to accept the award.

The public is welcome to bring lawn chairs to enjoy a baseball-theme picnic followed by a ball game between the 1869 Red Stockings and Reily Fire/EMS at 1 p.m. After the ball game, the Reily Township Volunteer Fire Department will challenge the other area fire departments in “Water Ball,” a game that involves a high-powered hose and a suspended ball.

The day will conclude with music from the Reily Trio, whose members will sing a variety of classic rock, blues, country and southern rock covers.

Other activities featured include bicycle safety, decorating a “Touch the Truck” activity and an exhibit of the Reily High School Bluebird baseball memorabilia.

The event is sponsored by Reily Township Trustees, Reily Township Good Neighbors, Reily Township Historical Society and the Coalition for a Healthy Community – Oxford Area.
