Women empower women through ‘Giving Circle’

A diverse group of 30 local women has organized a “giving circle” to pool its philanthropic donations “and decide together how to best invest in programs that support and empower women and girls in the Oxford community,” according to the press release.

The McCullough-Hyde Women’s Giving Circle, organized by the McCullough-Hyde Hospital Foundation, will collectively decide and vote on the recipients of grants each year. The inaugural grant will be made in spring 2023.

A minimum donation of $1,000 is required for an individual, one-year membership. Members are entitled to one vote to determine which program or project to fund, according to the press release. The women will evaluate the health and wellness projects based on the positive impact it will have on women in Butler and Preble counties in Ohio and Franklin and Union counties in Indiana.

The organizational meetings took place in August and December at the Knolls of Oxford. The group meets quarterly for networking, fellowship, and educational sessions focused on health and wellness issues facing women.
