Children showcase their juggling skills in a performance with My Nose Turns Red.

Performing group My Nose Turns Red joins the Oxford Community Arts Center at its monthly Celebration of the Arts event at 6 p.m. Friday, June 10.

The community arts center presents its Celebration of the Arts on the second Friday of each month. Admission is free, with complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres.

New gallery exhibitions feature art from Reyne Davis, Gini Maddocks and Della Reams.

My Nose Turns Red performs at 7:30 p.m. on the outdoor pavilion. Jean St. John and Steve Roenker, theatrical clowns “Juice” and “Shootang,” created the performing group in 1984. Together they toured schools and communities to showcase the art of the circus to children.

In 1997, the performing group began a youth program to teach children the skills of the one-ring circus and theatrical clowning.

The Oxford Community Arts Center partnered with My Nose Turns Red to offer two summer youth camps, beginning June 13.

“This program helps develop physical strength, balance, self-confidence, all while having fun,” Oxford Community Arts Executive Director Heidi Schiller said in a press release. “Even if you don’t enjoy team sports, you learn to work both individually and in a group with My Nose Turns Red circus.”
